Welcome to March, in like a lamb in Northeast South Dakota. You cannot beat a sunny, 60 degree day the first weekend of March! It is nice to go outside without a hat or coat and play some wiffle ball or shoot some hoops in the driveway.
As we hit March, we are heading into testing time. All of our students in grades 3 - 8 and our juniors will be taking the Smarter Balance tests. These tests will measure our students achievement in the areas of reading and math. The fifth, eighth, and eleventh graders will also be taking the Dakota Step Science Test. The testing window opens on March 8th and closes on May 5th. Students will be tested during this time. It is important that students show up well rested and do their best on these tests. It is scholarship season as well. Seniors, check out my scholarship page here. New opportunities will be posted as they come available. A big one due in a few weeks for students attending one of South Dakota's Tech Schools is the Build Dakota Scholarship. Track season starts shortly. If you are going out for track and haven't been out for a sport this year yet, you need to have a physical. Stop in and see me for a form if needed. I'm excited for the NCAA tournament coming up. Who do you have in the Final Four? Leave a comment with your teams below. The Wilmot 7th graders chose Duke, Kansas, North Carolina and Arizona! Have a great week!
